Budget 2020: Chamber Reaction & Key Points

Chamber Reaction to the 2020 Budget: “Businesses will be buoyed by some of the Chancellor’s announcements.

There are still some real challenges facing business and the economy, not least the rapid spread of coronavirus, and so measures to help business tackle those hurdles are welcomed. “Support with statutory sick pay, additional lending and the one-year business rate holiday for smaller firms is welcomed – these will assist cashflow. Improved investment incentives and committed infrastructure spending will help businesses to grow over the long-term.

“We also welcome initiatives such as creating or moving government department jobs to the North, support for home-building, and broadband and mobile network improvements. “And, finally, we welcome the announcement of a devolution deal for West Yorkshire – it’s been a long time coming and our region has some catching up to do!”
