Leeds City Train Station developments

Work has already begun on “major improvements” to Leeds City Train Station, as of last May. From May this year, the station and the surrounding area will see improvements at New Station Street, Boar Lane, Mill Hill, City Square, Infirmary Street etc. in order to make the station a greener, safer and improved area for the region’s commuters.

The scheme is being supplied by Leeds City Council (LCC) on behalf of Northern Rail (NR) and has a healthy £46.1 million budget. The work ahead, is something that the station needs to keep up with similar cities in the North. This will continue to make the region an attractive destination and act as a heartbeat for the city.  This next phase is due to be completed in September 2025 and it’s advised that people planning on using the station, to plan beforehand due to work likely to interfere with day-to-day movements.

It’s very much a short-term pain for long term gain approach. Everybody connected are aware it will make it easier for people to use the station and public transport. Providing efficient and easier ways to travel.
