Schneider Electric to invest in a new manufacturing facility in Scarborough

York & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce welcomes the news that Schneider Electric is investing £42m in a new manufacturing facility in Scarborough.

Schneider specialises in digital transformation of energy management is to create more than 200 jobs with its investment, being made to keep pace with increased demand for electrical equipment.

Schneider aims to make the facility a net zero site, with 30 per cent of the facility’s energy will be produced by a solar energy system, with solar panels covering half of the roof.

Sarah Czarnecki, president of York & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce, said: “This is precisely the kind of investment that North Yorkshire needs, and I congratulate Schneider on choosing Scarborough for this facility.

“The job creation and sustainability targets will make a real difference to Scarborough.

“The investment showcases what North Yorkshire has to offer and I hope this is but the start of increased inward investment into our great region.”
