Showcasing Bradford’s future

Showcasing Bradford’s future to the world was the topic of discussion at the latest meeting of the Bradford Property Forum.

With the UK Real Estate, Investment and Infrastructure Forum (UKREIIF) set to attract circa 6,000 delegates when it is staged in Leeds in May, Bradford is preparing to highlight to as wide an audience as possible the breadth of activity that the city has in the pipeline when it comes to development.

Bev Foster, Investment & Partnership Manager at Bradford Council, spoke about the likes of Bradford Live, One City Park, the Southern Gateway and the Darley Street Market as examples of projects that will significantly enhance the city centre.

She added that a new partnership with West Yorkshire Combined Authority was looking at how investment inquiries can be targeted towards Bradford.

Andrew Whittle, air quality director at Bradford Council, spoke about the potential for Bradford to become a hydrogen hub. Movement is underway nationally to bring hydrogen into the domestic heating network and projects to power buses, vans and taxis with the gas are also underway.

David Shepherd, the newly appointed director of place at the council, outlined the authority’s vision for development, with the ambition to make Bradford more of a 24 hour city with its own strengths and investment appeal.

Richard Merrills of Watson Batty outlined the need for Bradford to challenge any negative headlines and instead focus on the city’s positive narratives.

Finally, David Coe of Barratts, spoke of the upbeat picture being seen around the city’s housing market.

The event was held at The Great Victoria Hotel.
