At OSCAR’s Charity, we believe that every child affected by a brain tumour deserves the chance to smile, to play, and to simply be a child—even in the face of life’s most challenging circumstances. For families navigating the devastating reality of childhood brain tumours, those moments of joy can feel impossibly far away. OSCAR’s exists to bring that light in the darkness.
We’re a Yorkshire-based charity set up in memory of 9-year-old Oscar Hughes from York and we are dedicated to supporting children affected by brain tumours and their families through some of the darkest days imaginable.
We provide practical, emotional, and financial support that makes a real difference. Our lived experience of childhood brain tumour means we understand and we can tailor our support to each family’s needs. Whether it’s funding specialist equipment, organising physiotherapy and counselling, or simply being there with a listening ear when it’s needed most, we’re committed to easing the burden.
We also raise awareness of signs and symptoms, and fund crucial life-changing research.
But we can’t do it alone. The generosity of the business community has been instrumental in helping us continue our work, and we’re incredibly grateful for every partnership, donation, and act of support we receive. We are funded entirely by fundraising whether that is from trusts or foundations or people taking part in events.
