Property Forum gets land review update – 12 June

Businesses operating in the property and professional services sectors are being encouraged to attend an upcoming event to help drive economic growth and development. A study is underway to examine in greater detail Bradford Chamber Property Forum’s lobbying on employment land shortages, as outlined in last year’s report ‘Creating Space for Future Success’.  The consultants commissioned to complete the study will now present initial findings to businesses before considering the next steps. Marianne McCallum of WYG and Chair of the Property Forum, said: “We’re very pleased that the local authority acted with swiftness and decisiveness on the issues highlighted in last year’s report, and the risks of not acting.  This is a chance for businesses to add in any additional issues not yet picked up, and to help determine where we go from here.  I encourage businesses – especially those working in property, planning and development – to come along and join in the discussion.” Wednesday 12 June, 8-10am: Employment Land Review – Study, Initial Findings & Possible Outcomes Venue: TBC (City centre hotel – likely the Midland or Great Victoria) Cost: £20 members, £30 non-members (inc. VAT) What: Enabling growth through land provision Who: Peter Brett Associates & Aspinall Verdi There will also be updates on a separate but closely-related piece of work – Bradford’s three proposed Business Development Zones – in Bowling, Shipley & Keighley, aswell as the ‘City Village’ housing project. Two more site visits Following the successful ‘Walk & Talk’ tour of the city centre, two site visits will take place – both in June. (No charge) Tuesday 4 June, 8.30-10am: New College Bradford (limited availability) This purpose-built sixth form college on Nelson Street has received more than 1,000 applications and opens this September to around 600. Come along and ‘learn’ all about it. Wednesday 19 June (TBC), 4-5.30pm: Newhall Business Park, ProLogis Park This 38,000 sq ft site was purchased from ProLogis by Frank Marshall Estates and was fully let well over a year before opening.  This speculative development is another great success story for the city.
