West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce publishes Local Skills Improvement Plan for West Yorkshire

A new roadmap setting out how skills and training will be delivered in West Yorkshire is published today, with a heavy emphasis on the needs of the region’s employers.

West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce today publishes its report into how the Local Skills Improvement Plan for West Yorkshire will be implemented over the coming months.

The LSIP, a Department for Education programme, is being delivered by the Chamber in conjunction with West Yorkshire Combined Authority to match learning provision with the requirements set out by local employers.

It will focus on the key areas of West Yorkshire’s economy, namely Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering, Construction, Creative & Cultural Industries, Digital & Technology, Financial & Professional Services, Green Economy and HealthTech & Life Sciences.

James Mason, Chief Executive of West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce, said:

“LSIPs are transformational for local economies because they represent the voice of business when it comes to what they need from employees.

“The skill sets being delivered match with local requirements and will help drive productivity and employment when it is needed the most.

“We are very grateful to the business community of West Yorkshire, and with our colleagues at the combined authority who have been vital partners in this process.”
