Chamber announces appointment of Ken Merry

West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce Ken Merry as its new Vice-President for York & North Yorkshire.

Mr Merry, principal and chief executive of York College, will represent employers across the whole York and North Yorkshire region and serve alongside current president Scott Jenkins.

Mr Merry brings a wealth of experience in his sector, having been based at the college since 2023 and having previously worked for educational establishments around the country. His institution serves some 10,000 students and he works alongside more than 1,500 employers, playing a central role in ensuring the creation of a skills pipeline that underpins regional growth.

Mr Merry said:

“I am delighted to be elected as Vice President of York & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce.

“York & North Yorkshire has enormous strengths: ambitious businesses, talented people and a spirit of collaboration that is difficult to match. I look forward to working alongside our members to champion the interests of employers, support economic growth and ensure that businesses have the skilled workforce they need to succeed. Together, we have an opportunity to shape an even stronger future for our region.”

Mr Jenkins added:

“Ken is a massively respected and valued operator who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Chamber.

“I am excited to see what impacts he will have in terms of securing the best outcomes possible for our members across York & North Yorkshire.”
