Chamber meets Chinese consul

West & North Chamber of Commerce met with Tang Rui, the Chinese consul general for the North of England, at the offices of City of York Council.

As well as Matthew Seddon and Mark Casci from the Chamber, CYC leader Claire Douglas, deputy leader Peter Kilbane, Garry Taylor and Samual Blyth from the council and the University of York’s Tracy Lightfoot were in attendance.

Among matters of discussion were synergies between the economies of York and North Yorkshire with Nanjing, the consul general’s home city, as well as recent changes to China’s economy and plans for York’s future economic growth.

With the Chamber increasingly leading in the region when it comes to trade missions (including this weekend when members fly out to Saudi Arabia and Bahrain), destinations like China will be increasingly on our members’ minds when it comes to new markets and transactions.
