Chamber congratulates the next Chief Executive of Leeds City Council

West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce today congratulates Ed Whiting OBE on being nominated as the next chief executive of Leeds City Council.

Mr Whiting has been recommended to be approved as the council’s next CEO at the next meeting of full council.

His appointment follows an extensive recruitment process to appoint the successor to Tom Riordan who left the council at the end of the summer.

Mr Whiting has an impressive track record in civil service. He currently serves as Director of Cities and Local Growth in the Department for Business and Trade and Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government, having previously held senior roles at the Treasury and Number 10 Downing Street.

James Mason, chief executive of West & North Yorkshire Chamber, said: “On behalf of the region’s employers I congratulate Ed on this exciting appointment.

“We look forward to working with him to ensure the region enjoys a successful, inclusive and prosperous economy.”
